After a prolonged battle with cancer Mr. Del Bergeron died peacefully, surrounded by family, at Hospice Cornwall on Tuesday August 30, 2022. He was 79 years old.

Beloved husband of Lucie (née Landriault) Bergeron. Loved father of Jamie (Christine), Kelly (Nick), Kyle (Katy), Patrick (Caitlin) and Alex (Justin). Cherished grandfather of Jenni, Evelyn, Abygail, Alice, Wesley, John, Margot and Violet.

Dear brother of the late Lutt Jr. (late Norma), Eugene (Anne), Gordon (Barbara), late Pat MacNaughton (late Keith), Muriel Henri, Sheila Judges (late Don), Beverly Hodgins (Peter), Betty-Anne Baker (late Mike), Joanne McIntosh and brother-in-law to Marc Landriault (Sandra).

Son of the dearly missed late Luttrelle and Mamie (née Brisson). "Mr. B" will also be fondly remembered by the many students he taught throughout the years with the CDSBEO.

Del was the recipient of the Jacques Richard trophy and was inducted into the Cornwall Sports Hall of Fame under the Multi-sports Category in 1992. He coached various sports for over 40 years. Del co-founded the United Counties Basketball program with Al Haskavitz in 1976 and led his Girls Basketball team to a Provincial Championship in 1978 and 1980.

Del spearheaded the effort to build Legion Park with his brother Lutt Jr, Jim Francis and Tim Gault and served as an executive member with Cornwall Minor Baseball for 20 years.

Del thoroughly loved life and people. He enjoyed travelling with his wife Lucie, playing golf with the boys, walking at Grey's Creek everyday, entertaining family and friends, and stopping to talk to everyone in town.

Arrangements under the care and direction of Lahaie & Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Homes East Branch, 614 First Street East (613-933-2841).

In keeping with his wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 297 (415 Second Street West) on Sunday, September 18, 2022 from 1pm – 4pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to Hospice Cornwall would be appreciated by the family.
