John Jonas Carpenter was married to Sarah Catherine Glenn. They had nine children. A son, John Baker Carpenter, died in infancy. The birth and death dates were obtained from my grandmother's Bible, Ida Minnie Lee Carpenter Kale Dellinger. John Baker was born on 26 Oct 1896 and died on 22 July 1897. I am not sure where he is buried. He was 8 months and 27 days old when he died.

I believe that John and Sarah had another child, Monroe M Carpenter, who was born in 1875. The U.S. Federal Census Mortality Schedule (1850-1880) shows his death in Jan of 1881 in Gaston County, NC. The cause of death was diptheria. I am not sure where he is buried.

John and Sarah's other children were Nancy Cleo V. Carpenter, Susie Lee Carpenter, William Henry Carpenter, Grover Cleveland Carpenter, Ida Minnie Lee Carpenter, David Monroe Carpenter and Cletus Carl Carpenter.

John Jonas Carpenter's parents were Norm Henry Carpenter and Frances "Fanny" Baker Carpenter.
