Mrs. James Burnett, Mrs. M. L. Long and Mrs. J. A. McKinley, accompanied by Mrs. Lillian Penttila, sang "Jesus, Lover of My Soul," and "Rock of Ages."
Pallbearers were Hayes Crawford, Emery Rhodes, Van Heare, John Anderson, James Burnett and Pete McGillen.
Mrs. Simpkins was born May 5, 1860, in Putnam county, Missouri. She was married to David Lay in 1876 and left Missouri in May 1878, by wagon train, arriving at their destination near Bozeman in August of that year. She came to the Roscoe and Luther vicinities 48 years ago and was married to Joe Simpkins in 1897. They homesteaded near Roscoe and had lived there since that time.
She is survived by her widower, three sons, George T. Lay of Roscoe, Lewis Rieley Lay of Helena and Henry C. Lay of Luther and 11 great grandchildren.
