Obituary --Charles Osborne Smithson, son of Thomas H. and Nannie W. Smithson, was born August 31, 1892, and died June 24, 1911 aged 18 Years, 9 months and 28 days.
Charles was naturally a good natured and moral boy. In his seventeenth year he professed a living faith in Christ Jesus, united with Richwood Baptist Church was baptized by Rev. L. C. Hylbert and cheerfully and earnestly took up his cross. Called by God, he entered the Broaddus Institute September, 1910, completing the first year's study, June 7, 1911. His term report shows a year's work worthy to be proud of.
He, in company with his father, reached his home Monday, June 12th, and took to his bed a few days later. All that medical skill and the attention of loving ones could do for him was done, but to no avail. His peaceful spirit followed the spirit of his dear mother, who preceded him four days to the soul's rest. His mortal remains were taken in charge (as had been those of his dear mother) by undertakers McCutcheon, Deitz & Co., and after appropriate services at the Baptist Church by Rev. Miss Hill on Sunday afternoon were laid to rest by the side of a loving sister, who preceded him six years ago, and close to the mother so recently gone on. Peace, peace, wonderful peace.FATHER.
----Cards of Thanks Language fails to express the deep feeling of gratitude we owe to the good people of Richwood and surrounding community for sympathy, kindness and help extended to us and our dear ones during the sickness and death of a beloved wife and mother and a dear son and brother.
May Heaven's richest blessings come into each home, and rest upon into each inmate, is the prayer, yes, humble prayer and longing desire of T. H. SMITHSON AND FAMILY.(sent by John V. Smithson of London, UK)
