Gerald Kells-Murphy, 43, entered into rest on Nov. 4, 2003 in Barstow. He was born Aug. 6, 1960 in Barstow. He was a lifetime member of Saint Joseph's Catholic Church, and he attended Mount Saint Joseph Catholic School and was taught by Sister Teresitia. He was a boy scout in troop #69, which was sponsored by the Knights of Columbus. Gerald graduated
from Barstow High School in 1978. He served in the United States Marine Corps, and was honorably discharged as a sergeant (E-5). During his career, he was employed by McDonnell Douglas, Rockwell International, and Hughes Aircraft Co. which entailed work on the B-1 Bomber, A-4
Skyhawk, A-6 Intruder, and C-130 aircraft. He engineered and installed the hydraulic system in the rocket-powered world water record speedboat, the U.S. Discovery II. He earned his Associate of Arts degree in aviation
management from Saddleback Community College in Mission Viejo, a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Management form Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Ill., a Bachelor of Arts degree in systems management from the University of Southern California, and was only a few credits short of his Masters of Science degree in systems
management. He was a member of Toast Masters International, lecturing on the topic of the B-1 Bomber.
Gerald is survived by his parents Ronald and Celia Kells-Murphy of Barstow; brother Brian Kells-Murphy of Barstow;
sister Teresa Brand and brother-in-law Rodney Brand Sr., nephews, Rodney Brand Jr., and Justin Brand; niece, Chiffon Brand of Barstow andmany aunts, uncles, and cousins. Visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 13 at 8:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 505 E. Mt. View. A rosary will be
recited at 9 a.m. also at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will also be Thursday, Nov. 13 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will be Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003 at Mountain View Memorial Park, 37067
