OBITUARY: "Drayton Advocate" July 14, 1949, page 1

"THE LATE MRS. G. BROWN
Mrs. Margaret Brown, widow of the late Mr. George Brown, formerly of Moorefield, passed away on Thursday, June 30th, after a brief illness at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Floyd Besse, 8th Maryborough. She was in her 78tn year. She was a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, at Moorefield. She was a daughter of the late Silas Chambers, Leamington, being one of a family of 12. She married the late Mr. Brown in Bay City, Michigan, later moving with her husband to Collingwood. Then they moved to Toronto, where they resided for 30 years. Following Mr. Brown's death, she had resided with Mr. and Mrs. Besse. Surviving are two daughters, (Mabel) Mrs. J. C. Kennedy, Toronto; (Aleda) Mrs. Floyd Besse, «8th Maryborough, and five grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 5 brothers, Fred, Alfred, Sanford, Robert and Wilson, all of Leamington. The funeral was held at the Besse home on Sunday afternoon with the deceased's minister, Mr. G. Taylor-Munro, officiating. After singing the hymns, "Abide with me'' and "Tis the blessed hour of prayer," Mr. Munro read comforting scripture selections and spoke on the subject, " Pray for Me." These words were uttered by the departed just a week before. "When you pray for one who is very near and dear to you, you come closer to God than ever before," said Mr. Munro. "This is the fulfilment of Faith. When mother says, 'Pray for me, she is thinking of her family; she is saying, "Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.'' Interment was in Victoria cemetery, Drayton, with pallbearers being Messrs. Jas. Grieve, Arthur Studer, Wesley Hill, Cyril Jack, Oscar Wooley and Stanley Ellis. Flowerbearers were Messrs. Kenneth Hill, Ed. Bailey, Ken Harrison, Norman Harrison, Bryce Jack, Elwood and Howard Donald. The sympathy of a wide circle of friends goes out to those left behind."
