Portuguese military engineer, perhaps best known for having been responsible for the one-shot casting of the equestrian statue of King José I sculpted by Machado de Castro (located in Praça do Comércio, Lisbon), in 1771. He was Intendant General of Artillery Foundries and War Instruments Laboratories, Governor of the Royal Army Arsenal, Secretary of State and Superintendent of the Iron and Coal Mines of Portugal. He was also a Professed Knight in the Military Order of Christ and Fidalgo Cavaleiro (Noble Knight) of the Royal House.
