Bobby Donald Atchley, 74, of Trenton, GA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, July 25, 2023
Donald was born to Ruford and Fannie Mae Atchley in Bryant, Alabama on May 28,1949. He was one of twelve siblings.
He is preceded in death by his only son Joshua Atchley, step-son Brad Teet, siblings; Orban Atchley, Ray Atchley, Margie Baker, Hershel Atchley, Erlene Lee, Gene Atchley, Verna Waters, and Billy Atchley.
He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Deanna Atchley, granddaughters; Shelby Atchley and Taylor Atchley; Daughter-in-law; Gladys Atchley, and his only great granddaughter, Kylie Weathers. Siblings; Irma Veneble, Roy Atchley, and Harold Atchley. Step-grandchildren; Damon Case, Ashley Perkins, Brooke Teet, Lisa Guyer, and Cassidy Klitzke. Step- daughter; Marceela Klitzke.
Donald retired as an engineer from Combustion. And later after retirement he had a successful general contracting business with his brother Orban Atchley they also potato farmed together for many years. As a past-time he and his brother Roy Atchley enjoyed "tinkering" on old Chevrolet pickup trucks. Along for Donald's love for the Lord he enjoyed fishing with his son Josh and spending time with his grandchildren.
Donald was a member of Slygo Valley Holiness Church. Brother Donny Walker will be officiating the service on Friday, July 28th at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. He will be laid to rest at Bryant Free Holiness Church Cemetery. Pallbearers include Shelby Atchley, Cody Atchley, Harold Atchley, Trent Atchley, Matt Cole, and Joe Bokina. Honorary pallbearers include Elda Culpepper, Myron Culpepper, Terry Holly, Freeman Harmon, Floyd Vinson, Doyle O'tinger, Greg Bradford, and Clint Farmer.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at Ryan Funeral Home & Crematory, Trenton, GA.
