Ruth "Honey" Ayers Johns, 95, went home to live with the Lord on Sunday, March 30, 2008.
Funeral: 3 p.m. Thursday at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel. Interment: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park.
Ruth was born April 17, 1912, in Taylor to Alice Mussett Ayers and John Harvey Ayers, whose children eventually numbered 11. Two died while infants. Ruth's sisters, Gussie Ayers and Mattie May Touchstone; and brothers, Chester Ayers and Howard Ayers, are deceased.
Ruth and Herb Johns (Texas A&M, '39) were married in Corpus Christi on Feb. 10, 1940. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. Serving as honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren, Darin Johns, Eric Johns, Vanessa Flint, Daniel Johns; brother-in-law C.R. Browning; Abigail Huntsman.
Survivors: Son, Tommy L. Johns and his foster daughter, Abigail Huntsman, of Terrell; son, H. Kimbrough Johns of Jefferson, Colo.; sisters, Ella Ayers, Marie Davis, Dorothy Browning; brother, Tom Ayers, all of Austin; four grandchildren; and great-grandchildren, Landon, Lance and Kaela.
