Elwain Lafey Diser was born on October 13, 1941, on the family farm at Booneville, Iowa. He was the son of Lafayette V. and Mary Ethel (Alexander) Diser. He graduated from Liscomb High School in 1959.
On September 29, 1961, Elwain married Ruth Tucker at Bethel Grove Church in Liscomb. The couple lived in Liscomb and Marshalltown for 30 years, and moved to State Center three years ago.
Elwain worked for Strand Bread and later Old Home Bakery driving bread routes. After his retirement, he joined the Marshall Lodge 108, AF & AM. He was initiated on November 17, 2005, passed on December 1, 2005, and raised on December 5, 2005. He was a member of Signet Chapter No. 38, R.A.M., King Solomon Council No. 20, R. & S.M., and St. Aldemar No. 30, K.T.
Elwain's family was very important to him. He enjoyed baking bread and dearly loved his animals, his Pug Simon and his Ragdoll Sam.
Surviving Elwain is his wife, Ruth Diser, of State Center; his children, Scott (Kelly) Diser, Chris (Jolue) Diser, and Noel (Dawn) Diser; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Rosemarie Davis, Elsie Davis, and Carolyn Pitt; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Mary Wall; his brother, Dwaine; and three dogs, Shamus, Stephanie, and Shawnessy.
