Edward L. Akers, age 88 of Newbern, VA, died Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Harmony Assisted Living of Roanoke, VA.

He was born on March 27, 1935, and was the son of the late Elsie L. Prillaman Akers and the late Robert Edward Akers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Lee Akers.

He was a member of the United States Air Force.

Left to cherish his memories are his lovely wife, Nancy Williams Akers, of Harmony Assisted Living of Roanoke; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, July 20, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Seagle Funeral Home, with Pastor Talmadge Stanley, and Pastor Frank Prilliman officiating. Interment will follow in Newbern Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, July 20, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to Medi Home Health and Hospice, 319 N. Washington Ave., Pulaski, VA 24301. Arrangements by Seagle Funeral Home, Pulaski.
