Longtime Frankfort resident Michael L. Spear, 58, of Richmond, IN, died unexpectedly on June 28, 2023 at his home. He was born on March 30, 1965 in Frankfort, IN to Charles O. "Chuck" and Phyllis I. (Conner) Spear.

Michael was a 1984 Frankfort High School graduate. He lived most of his life in Frankfort prior to moving to Richmond last year. He had formerly worked for Wesley Manor, the City of Frankfort, Zachary's and for many years was a volunteer for the Hot Dog Festival. While living in Richmond, Michael worked for the Richmond Community Schools. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Frankfort and the American Legion Post 12 in Frankfort. Mike enjoyed demolition derbies and loved caring for his "grand-pups" for his daughters.

Surviving are three children; one brother; and three grandchildren. Michael was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 4-6 PM on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort, IN. Funeral services will follow at 6 PM at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Green Lawn Cemetery at a later date.
