Businessman and Philanthropist. Shahzada Dawood was a Pakistani-born British businessman and philanthropist, widely known as one of Pakistan's wealthiest individuals. He was born into a prominent family, with his father, Hussain Dawood, being a renowned businessman, investor, educationalist, and philanthropist serving as the chairman of publicly listed companies in Pakistan. Dawood completed his Law degree from Buckingham University and pursued a master's degree in Global Textile Marketing from Philadelphia University, now known as Thomas Jefferson University. In 2003, he joined Engro Corporation, a prominent Pakistani conglomerate based in Karachi. He made significant contributions to the company and eventually rose to the position of vice-chairman in October 2021. During his career, Dawood also served as a director of Dawood Hercules Corporation, an investment and holding company located in Karachi, Pakistan, from 2018 to 2022. Apart from his business endeavors, Dawood was actively involved in philanthropic initiatives. He served as a trustee of The Dawood Foundation, a family foundation dedicated to establishing educational and healthcare institutions across Pakistan. Additionally, he was a trustee of The Engro Foundation and a board member of The Prince's Trust, a charity founded by King Charles III in 1976. Dawood also held a position on the board of the SETI Institute. Tragically, in June 2023, Dawood and his son Suleman went missing while aboard the Titan, a vessel owned by OceanGate, Inc., during an expedition to explore the wreck of the Titanic. They lost contact with the above-water ship, MV Polar Prince. Extensive search-and-rescue operations were launched involving water and air resources. On June 22, a debris field was discovered, confirming the death of Dawood and his companions.
