Explorer, Businessman. The founder and CEO of OceanGate Inc., he was a descendant of two of the Founding Fathers and signers of the United States Declaration of Independence, Richard Stockton and Benjamin Rush. A graduate of Princeton University, he was known for his exploits in both aeronautics and oceanic explorations. At the age of 19, he became the world's youngest jet rated pilot. In the mid 1980s, he partnered with the United States Air Force, assisting with developments to the F-15 jet fighters and a variety of operations designed to counter threats during the Cold War. The chairman of Remote Control Technologies and director of Blue View Technologies, he set aside his childhood aspirations of becoming the first human to reach Mars, instead focusing on exploring Earth's final frontier; the depths of its oceans. In 2009, he founded OceanGate Inc. which used the sophisticated a fleet of three submersibles, including one christened, "Titan" to ferry paying customers to the wreck of the RMS Titanic which foundered in the North Atlantic Ocean in April of 1912. Rush was lost along with four fellow passengers aboard the aforementioned submersible on June 18, 2023 when the vehicle was lost at sea whilst attempting another dive to Titanic.
