David H. Carland, Jr. of 1906 Union avenue, died at Mercy hospital Saturday night at 11.40 o'clock after an extended illness. Mr. Carland was born in Altoona Jan. 1, 1918, the son of David H. & Zella M. (Wicker) Carland. He worked as a spinner for the Paragon Textile company and served with the Pennsylvania national guard for three years. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Anna Mae (Bell) Carland; 2 daughters, Margaret Ann and Virginia Lee, both at home; his mother and these brothers and sisters, Mrs. J. M. Shaunessey and Mrs. Joseph Johnson of Altoona, Mrs. Ruth Garafolo of Reynoldsville, Ralph B. and Roy E. Carland of Baltimore and Fred of Marionsville. He was of the Methodist faith. Friends will be received at the N. A. Stevens mortuary.
