A victim of the Titanic tragedy.
James, age 29, boarded the Royal Mail Ship (RMS) Titanic in Southampton as a second class passenger. James had been in London on business and was headed home to his wife in New Mexico. The couple had no children.

The experiences that James had during the sinking of the ship and what exactly happened to him are unknown as his body was never found.

James was the 5th of 7 children born to Civil War Veteran William Bracken and his wife Sarah Ann (Morris) Bracken of Kentucky. He moved to New Mexico where he married Addie Greathouse in 1907. They had a land claim in Lake Arthur, New Mexico of 160 acres.
