Betty was born in DePere on February 15, 1934 to Alfred and Wilma (Kuchenbecker) Otto. She spent most of her young life on a farm outside of St. Nazianz and attended the Fountain Park School & Kiel High School.

Betty married Leo J. Koenig in 1953, (a construction worker). Betty and Leo were very active motorcyclists. They toured many states on their Harley, and also belonged to the Immortals Motorcycle Club. The couple was also very active with their many Coonhound & Bear Dogs; and raised many horses, pigs, and beefers.

Betty and Leo had 40 years together before he passed away in 1993 on their 40 acre farm in the town of Gibson.

After Leo's passing, Betty traveled on many plane & bus trips with her sister, Audrey.

Betty worked for many years at Mirro Aluminum, mostly in the Boat Plant Division. She loved making boats. She was also a bartender at the Larrabee Sportsman's Club for 30 years. She was a lifetime member of the Larrabee Sportsman's Club; member of the U.S. Steelworkers Union; and served as secretary of Manitowoc Coon Hunters for 15 years. In her spare time, Betty enjoyed caring for her home and keeping up her yard; canning many pickles; playing cards in two sheepshead clubs; and enjoyed watching her grandkids and her five great-granddaughters grow up. She was a longtime, faithful member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Gibson.

Survivors include her two sons & daughters-in-law: Rick and Karlene Koenig of Denmark, Terry and JoDee Koenig of Mishicot "The best sons and daughters-in-law you could find, who helped Betty a lot at her home in Mishicot". She is further survived by her grandchildren: Rick (Stacy) Koenig, Jr., Patty Koenig and Mike Behrmann, Crystal and Don Wood; and her great-grandchildren: Makayla, Mariah, Paige Leigh, Courtney, and Josie; along with sisters-in-law: Lola Otto, Yvonne Evenson, and Milly Sheraski; nieces, nephews, many sheepshead players and breakfast friends.
