Gwendolyn Dorothy Hull, "Wendy", 52, went home to be with our Heavenly Father on June 12, 2023 from an unexpected health issue.

Visitation for family, friends, and community will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2023 at Hamilton's on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown, in West Des Moines, Iowa. Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Soteria Des Moines Baptist Church, 3250 Soteria Avenue also in West Des Moines. Pastor Zach Dietrich will officiate. Burial will follow the memorial service at Glendale Cemetery off of University Avenue in Des Moines. Immediately following there will be food and fellowship time back at Soteria Church.

Wendy was born on June 04, 1971, in Kirksville, Missouri. She was a 1990 graduate from Ft. Madison High School and attended Faith Baptist College in Ankeny and DMACC in Des Moines. Wendy was married to Corey Coon on November 1, 2003 and they later divorced.

Wendy was also known as "Wednesday", a nickname given to her by her "best band friend" Micah. And because of her love of music, and desire to support the local bands she loved, her Wednesday's Notes blog was born. Wednesday's Notes kept those interested in local live music informed on where they could catch their favorite performers any night of the week. She also featured interviews with many of those local musicians. Wendy helped promote events and even became involved in booking musicians for various venues. Currently, Wednesday's Notes has more than 2,700 followers. In 2015, she won the Fan of the Year award from the Des Moines Music Coalition due to being an involved and a well-established figure in the community and in the local music scene. Music was an absolute passion of her life, and music was a melody in her soul!

Wendy was a huge part of the Valley Junction District with their live music, local shops, and enjoyed visiting the Farmer's Market. Wendy, also, enjoyed writing poems and journaling throughout the years. She was an avid Hawkeye fan, as well. Wendy doted on her only niece, Hannah, and her four-paw puppy nephew, M.A.X. She was always involved in their lives or asking for puppy pictures! Wendy was a longtime member of Soteria Baptist Church and active in her church in a small group and wherever she could help out.

Wendy is survived by her father, David Hull (Carol); sister, Ginger Lawshe (Robert), niece, Hannah Wiley Lorenzo de Arteaga (Leber); her 4-paw nephew, M.A.X.; and her other extended family, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Kathryn "Kathy" Hull, maternal uncle, and both maternal and paternal grandparents.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Ginger Lawshe, 18914 E. Briargate Lane, 1C, Parker, CO 80134 in loving memory of Wendy Hull.

The Des Moines music scene is reeling from the devastating loss of its most devoted fan. Today is a somber day as the news of Wendy Hull's unexpected passing last night has left us all in shock and sadness. Wendy was not only an ardent supporter of music but also the epitome of kindness and warmth.

Her unwavering passion for music was unparalleled, evident in her unwavering attendance at countless shows. It was not uncommon for Wendy to immerse herself in the vibrant local music scene, often attending multiple shows in a single night. She did so without any expectation or demand, simply driven by her love for the art and her desire to support the musicians she adored.

Wendy's genuine and caring nature endeared her to everyone she encountered. Musicians, in particular, held her in the highest regard, as she was a constant source of encouragement and inspiration. Her unwavering presence in the crowd, cheering and applauding, fueled their performances and ignited their passion. Wendy's absence will be felt deeply by every musician, for she was not just a fan but a beloved member of the music community.

Today, we mourn the loss of a remarkable soul who brought joy and positivity to every concert she attended. Wendy Hull will be profoundly missed, but her spirit and impact on the Des Moines music scene will live on forever.
