John Harvey Putman

Mr. John Harvey Putman, age 87, resident of Vaiden, died of heart disease, Monday, April 25, 1994 at Golden Age Nursing Home in Greenwood.

Mr. Putman was a member of Vaiden Baptist Church and the French Camp Masonic Lodge and was a lumberman by profession.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Vera Bright Putman of Vaiden; five daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Ruth McCoskey of Monticello, Mrs. Peggy Louise Harber of Nashville, Mrs. Julia Ann Doss of Charleston, Mrs. Mora Glenda Douglass of Memphis, Tennessee, and Mrs. Kathy McHann of Tupelo; his son, Harvey Putman Jr. of Winona; his sister, Mrs. Pearl McWhorter of Winona; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday, April 27, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Leon Holly officiating. Burial followed in Crape Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were David Lynn Putman, Buddy Gibbons, Michael Harber, Murray Harber, Nathan Doss, John Douglas and Jason McHann. Honorary pallbearers were Bryant Nelms and George T. Summerhill.

Oliver Funeral Home of Winona was in charge of arrangements.
