William "Bill" Cornelison was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend and much more. On March 2, 2022, God called him to his forever home at the age of 70.
Born March 18, 1951, in Springfield, Ohio to William Clyde and Betty Jane Cornelison. Bill did most of his growing up in Barstow and after graduating high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps on September 8, 1969. He was honorably discharged on December 1, 1991, at the rank of GySgt. Bill was a proud Marine and took great pride in serving his country. At the beginning of his career, he served two tours in Vietnam. Towards the end of his career, he served in the Gulf War.
Bill was presented with the following: National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal/3rd award; Vietnam Campaign Medal w/Purple Heart/2nd award; Navy Unit Citation/2nd award; Good Conduct Medal; Meritorious Unit Citation.
Bill continued to work at several jobs after retiring from the USMC. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and assisted with Martha's Meals and the soup kitchen.
Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Lupe and brothers Marvin and Timothy. He leaves two children – a son, Jeromie Cornelison (Nidia) and a daughter, Billie Jo "BJ" Almanza (David), two grandsons, Jeromie William Cornelison and Gavin Nicholas Cornelison and siblings, Patti Jo, Leonteen and Joseph along with many nieces, nephews and friends who will dearly miss him and his sense of humor and wonderful hugs.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, followed by burial at Mountain View Memorial Park, Barstow, California.
