DEATH OF MRS. E STUCKMAN
The large number of deaths here during the past few weeks has been increased by one. This time it is Mrs. Elma Stuckman who has just gone to her rest.
She died at the home of Mr. Caulkins, 935 Ramona street, at an early hour Thursday morning. The circumstances connected with her death made it a particularly sad one. Within two years Mrs. Stuckman has lost her mother and an elder sister by the same dread disease, consumption. Owing to her own health failing she accompanied her husband from her Indiana home to California, but her ailment was already beyond human control. Her failing was gradual until last Saturday when she grew rapidly worse until death relieved her sufferings.
Mrs. Stuckman was born in Elklart County, Indiana May 22, 1878, thus it is seen that she was only 21 years, 5 months, and 17 days old. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Holtzinger, and on August 22, 1899 she was married to Mr. Calvin L. Stuckman in Chicago, Ill. whence they came direct to Palo Alto. She was a careful student and a Christian girl all of her life and was universally loved by all who knew her. Besides her husband, who is a law student of Stanford University, she leaves a father, sister, and two brothers to mourn her departure.
The funeral was held from her temporary home at Mr. Caulkins this afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. D. A. Russell of the Christian Church conducted the services. The internment was at Redwood.
Death is sad even when surrounded by friends of long standing, but the sadness seems increased when death comes away from home. However the kindness of Palo Alto people helped Mr. Stuckman greatly in this hour of his bereavement.
