Miss Helen, the beleoved daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.S. Briel of Karthaus, passed away at the Clearfield hospital at 10:30 o'clock last evening following a week's strenuous battle with death.
Miss Briel underwent a serious operation on Monday last and appeared to be getting along finely until Wednesday evening when she suddenly collapsed and since that time had been hovering between life and death. On Friday bronchial pneumonia developed and the weakened system being unable to withstand the devatating inroads of the diseaese, the end came peacefully at the time stated.
The deceased was an exceptionally bright and amiable young lady, whose charming manner and winning personality made staunch friends of all who knew her, while she was the especial pride and joy of her parents and brothers and sisters.
She but recently rturned from St. Joseph's convent at Titusvillee, where she was an honor student and general favorite. In addition to her feminine charms and accomplishments the deceased was an athlete and devoted much time to outdoor life and sports.
She was the youngest of a large family and her untimely death just as life, with its vast possibilities was opening for her, comes as a hear-crushing blow to her loved ones, who have the sympathy of their large circle of friends in their sorrow. She was a devoted member of the Catholic church and passed out of life into eternity fortified with all the rites and consolations of her church.
