Lawrence R. "Larry" Streitmatter, 83, of Wyoming, went home to be with his savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, in Kewanee, after a long battle with cancer. Larry was born on August 11, 1939, in Peoria, the son of Frank and Lena (Bayer) Streitmatter.

Surviving are his best friend and companion since 2007 Elsie Dunn Leon of Kewanee. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marilyn; and brothers, Frank and Kenny.

Larry was a 1957 graduate of Wyoming High School. He farmed for 50 years and worked security at Kress for 10 years. He was a member of the Stark County Farm Bureau and the Congregational Church in Stark. Larry loved the land and was so proud that he lived in the same house all his life. His parents bought the farm in 1925 and he sold the land to his cousins, Dave, Larry, and Jerry, in 1999. He liked nothing better than to drive the auger cart or ride in the big planters and combines. As he drove down the road, he was always commenting on the growth of crops.
