Fred E. Yohe, 77, died at 3:35 p.m. Monday, March 22, 2004 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Sybil J. (Gentzler) Yohe to whom he was married for 58 years.

A private family service will be held at Irwin Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove with his interim pastor, the Rev. Lester D. Helmeczi officiating. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Yohe was born September 8, 1926, in Spring Grove. He was a son of the late Cletus Sylvester and Leah Naomi (Strausbaugh) Yohe. He served during WWII as a U.S. Merchant Marine from 1944 to 1946. He retired in 1988 from Glatfelter after 42 years of service as an Area Maintenance Mechanic and was a member of the mill Quarter Century Club. Fred was a member of Mt. Zion United Church of Christ in Spring Grove. He was a member of the Friendship Hose Company in Spring Grove, the Nashville Volunteer Fire Company, and the Viking Athletic Association. Besides his wife, he leaves three children, Sharon F. George of Pittsburgh, Bradley E. Yohe of Gettysburg, and Marsha E. Fuhrman of Spring Grove; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eva M. Grogg of York.
