Gladys V. Oyer, 93, Bella Vista, Ark., formerly Lincoln, died Tuesday (3/9/04) at Concordia Retirement Center in Bella Vista. Born, Aurora (1/30/11), to Albert P. and Mary (Hamlow) Anderson. Retired registered nurse. Gladys received her graduate nursing degree in 1937 from the University of Nebraska College of Nursing in Omaha. After graduation, she served as a missionary nurse at Covenant Mountain Mission in Jonesville, Va., as well as a nurse in hospitals in Los Angeles; Chicago; Lincoln; and Alhambra and Pasadena, Calif. Her work included teaching as well as nursing.
Gladys was a member of First Evangelical Free Church, Lincoln. She was known by many through the some 100-plus flannel graph presentations she gave on the birth of Jesus (Christmas story) and the resurrection of Jesus (Easter story). Gladys is now at home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She will be missed by her loved ones.
Survivors: brother-in-law, Joe Gronquist, Bella Vista; nieces, nephews, Virginia Benson Mink, Lincoln, Mary Leigh Benson Woodring, Judy Gronquist Harms, both Bella Vista, Marilyn Schlaphoff Mertens, Hot Springs, Ark., Paul Schlaphoff, Sherburne, Minn., Susan Gronquist Nelson, Atlanta, Robert Anderson, Fort Smith, Ark., Sheri Anderson Clark, Eureka, Calif. Preceded in death by husbands, David Magnuson and Alvin Oyer (both of California).
Memorial service: 1 p.m. Friday, Roper & Sons Funeral Services, 4300 O St. Burial: 11 a.m. Friday, Rosehill Cemetery, Waverly.
