Moses E. Knight was the son of Moses Knight and Temperance Eddins. Moses was born in South Carolina and spent his childhood days in Chesterfield County, South Carolina.
Moses E. Knight enlisted in the 21st Regiment, South Carolina Infantry, Company E, ranked in as a Sergeant.
Moses E. Knight and Sarah M. were married before 1868. They had one daughter, Mary Wilma, who was born about 1868 in North Carolina. Mary Wilma Knight married William O. Emerson the 11 Feb. 1901 in Union County Arkansas.
In 1880 Moses E. Knight age 46, was in Union County Arkansas with his wife Sarah M. age 35 and daughter Wilma age 12. Sarah died the 29 Aug. 1896.
Moses second marriage was to Mary A. Kerbo in 1898, Book L, Page 177, Union County Arkansas. Moses and Mary were enumerated on the 1910 Union County Arkansas census.
Moses pension application is #4838, his death date 26 Feb. 1913 is noted in his pension record.
Moses is buried beside his first wife Sarah, they are buried in the Wooley Cemetery in Union County Arkansas, he has a confederate headstone with the inscription, Sgt. M. E. Knight, Co. E. - 21st S. C. Inf. CSA. No dates.
The Woolley Cemetery in Union Co., AR. is a very small cemetery with only six graves as of May 29, 1997. It is located just north of the old community of Caledonia, AR on the Boy Scout Camp Road. The headstones are just off the shoulder of the small road about 100 yds. south and across the road from the main Caledonia Cemetery. The Woolley Graves are inside an old iron fence. The others are in the same line of graves, but outside the fence. Moses and Rev. Bradford were very close friends, Moses & Sarah are near Rev. Bradford's baby, Annie Bradford outside of the Wooley family fence.
