Blanche Julia English Metcalf, 88, of 31 Monticello Road, Weaverville, N.C. died Thursday, March 17,1993 in a local hospital after a brief illness.
A native of Madison County, N.C., she had lived in Buncombe County since 1921. She retired in 1948 from Southern Bell as an employment supervisor after 25 years of service. She attended Asheville Normal School and taught school in Brunswick County, N.C. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and A.A.R.P. She was the daughter of the late Samuel Henry English and Hester Jane Jervis English and was married to Harvey Emerson Metcalf who died in 1990.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 1993 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Burial was in Green Hills Cemetery.
