Ricardo Chavez was a long-time resident of Barstow, California and graduated from Barstow High School in 1981 before moving to Apple Valley, California.
Ricardo loved playing and watching football as well as playing baseball while in school. He loved to watch all sports and loved being around his nieces and nephews. As he was growing up, he excelled in baseball where he made the West Barstow Little League All-Star Team as a pitcher and went to the San Bernardino regionals for a chance to compete in a tournament for the Little League World Series.
Ricardo worked at Purdy's meats for a few years, before going to work at Ft. Irwin as a Federal employee meat cutter for 26 years, before he retired. He enjoyed being around people and making friends. He was very well liked by anyone and everyone he came in contact with. He was a loving and gracious individual.
Ricardo is survived by brothers Henry Chavez (Jackie), of Apple Valley, CA., Larry Chavez (Connie) of Barstow, CA., Frank Chavez (Pam) of Victorville, CA., Mike Chavez (Jennifer) of Las Vegas, NV., sisters Angie Moreno of Hesperia, CA., Virginia Miller of Palm Springs, CA. and numerous nieces and nephews. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Abel and Mary Ellen Chavez, brother Tony Chavez, sisters Mary Proctor, and Diane Silvas.
Ricardo will be interred at Mountain View Memorial Park in Barstow, California on May 29, 2020.
Ricardo will always and forever be greatly missed by those who knew him. We love you so, so much brother, uncle and friend. We shall meet again.
