On August 5, 1939, Elmer married Thelma Adams in Forsyth. Elmer served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He later worked as a farmer and carpenter.
Elmer had been a member of Pine Ridge Church for 68 years. He enjoyed hunting---especially coon hunting.
Survivors include: his wife, Thelma Walker, Chadwick, his son , Donald Ray Walker , Chadwick, three grandsons, Danny Walker , Chadwick, Dennis Walker and wife Cindy,Seymour, and Darrell Walker and wife Kerry, Bolivar, a grandaughter, Penny Hull, Chadwick, eleven gr-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, and nine brothers and sisters, Charles Walker and wife Betty , Joplin, Melvin Walker and wife Opal, Joplin, Ervin Walker and wife Donna, Dunawig, Vergie Abney and husband Tom, Ozark, Dixie Lee Ramsey and husband Johnny , Battlefield, Lillie Mae White, Joplin, Fern Walker, Ozark, Wesley Walker, Ozark , and Arthur Walker, Joplin.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter-in-law, Wilda Faye Walker, two brothers, Alva Walker and Delmar, and an infant brother.
