Donald Gene Crace, passed away on June 1, 2023, after a very brave battle with pancreatic cancer. Son of Don and Betty Crace, he was born on October 11, 1947, in Austin, Minnesota. Growing up in Adams, Minnesota, Don developed a deep love for the outdoors from an early age, enjoying endless fishing and hunting adventures through the lakes of Minnesota with friends and family. Throughout high school Don participated in football, baseball, basketball, and skiing while approaching each opportunity with determination and perseverance. It was during this time that Don discovered his passion for the game of golf. After graduating from Adams High School in 1965, his next chapter began at Mankato State University where he received a business degree, and he realized his potential in business/sales.
A dear friend introduced him to the principles of Dale Carnegie, which was a natural fit for his supreme optimism and focus on genuine relationships. This launched him into a successful 40-year career helping others realize their potential and making sincere connections with the people around them. In 1981, he made the brave decision to move his wife and three girls to Washington State to begin his adventure as a Dale Carnegie franchise owner in Spokane and later all of Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. Don enjoyed the lifetime connections he made with Dale Carnegie sponsors and trainers around the world.
The desert of Rancho Mirage, California became his favorite place to enjoy retirement with daily trips to the golf course with friends and family. An avid outdoorsman, Don could be found playing golf on the holes behind their desert home until the sun went down, and early mornings were spent casting lines into the nearby ponds. Don had a gift of being extremely present in the everyday moments while making it all seem like fun.
Don and Linda enjoyed many memorable traveling adventures together, yet many of his favorite moments were spent gathered around the kitchen table beating everyone at cribbage.
Don is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 53 years, Linda. Don's legacy lives on through his three daughters and sons-in-law; Carrie Daniel (Travis), Robin Brodsky (Ben), and Holly Briscoe (Schuyler) and his eight beloved grandchildren: Aden, Evan, Lauren, Hudson, Sophie, Payton, Hadley, and Campbell. He will forever be remembered by his sisters, Shari Wagner (Dan) and Cathy Jo Rauen (Jim) and many nieces and nephews.
