Thierry Stephen Bastien ("T") was born on November 25, 1981 in Brooklyn, NY to Theonome and Yanick Bastien (nee Augustin). He is the youngest of their two children, joining the family when his brother, Rulx, was three years old.

Thierry grew up in Brooklyn until 1990, when the family relocated to Elmont, Long Island. He attended Dutch Broadway Elementary School and graduated from Elmont Memorial Jr. & Sr. High School in 1999.

As a child, Thierry was mischievous and fun. He had a bright personality and was always active. He and Rulx spent a lot of time with their many cousins, and in any space where he was the youngest in the group, he would always try to show that he could keep up with them.

The loss of their mother in 1989 was a severe blow to Thierry and Rulx, and her passing deeply affected them over the course of their lives. Thierry chose to remember and honor his mom in several ways, including tattooing her face on his arm and wearing a portrait of her around his neck. The boys gained a second mother when his father married Yvonne Louidor in 1990.

As a teenager and young adult, Thierry was loving, troublesome, hyperactive and outgoing. He loved rap music, and would rap to anyone who would listen. At his first rap concert (M.O.P.), one member of the group handed him the microphone to finish a verse. It was one of the best experiences of his young life.

On October 2, 2009, Thierry's daughter, Thierra Yanick, was born. As far as he was concerned, the whole world stopped and started revolving around her. Thierry took every opportunity to tell Thierra how much he loved her, and bragged about her to anyone who would listen. Even after he left New York, Thierry remained an active and present father. He would make frequent trips to see Thierra and they spoke often. She was present in his last social media post about his "happy place," and she was the last call he received on that fateful day.

Thierry left NY for South Florida in 2016. His time there was filled with family, fun and love. He reconnected with cousins, made new friends, worked on perfecting his cooking skills, and had recently decided to turn his passion for music and entertainment into a record label. Then came Makia. With Makia, Thierry was the best version of himself. The arrival of Thierry Jr. on December 21, 2022 cemented that version of T, and shifted his purpose and goals. As with his baby girl, Thierry was a proud father who doted on Junior from the moment he was born. T would share many pictures and videos of Junior – he just couldn't help himself and would often say so. He had truly turned his life around, and became focused on making a great life for his blended family – Thierra, Junior, Chase and Makia.

On Tuesday May 2, 2023, Thierry performed an act of bravery and heroism that is difficult for many to understand and would be impossible for many to do. We can state without a doubt that multiple lives were saved that day at the cost of losing someone we love so dearly and deeply. Thierry saved the life of the intended victim and inadvertently prevented what could've been a greater catastrophe. As painful and awful as the loss of his life is, we are comforted that he died saving many lives.

Thierry loved his family above all else. He was obsessed with his kids; he had a deep, fierce love for his late mother; and he loved spending time with his many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Like his dad, anyone who met T could not help but be drawn to him because he lit up a room, and he always brought energy into any space he walked into. He had a huge heart, something that consistently comes up when you ask people about him, and was compassionate, respectful, caring, and fun-loving. The grief and sorrow caused by his death is soul-deep, and it cannot be measured. There are no words to express how much he will be missed by all who loved him.

Thierry is survived by his father and stepmother, Mr. Theonome and Yvonne Louidor Bastien; his brother, Rulx Bastien; his children, Thierra and Thierry Jr.; his partner, Makia Ford; Dawn Goldstein; his paternal aunts and uncle, Mrs. Leonne Bastien Honore, Mrs. Suzanne Bastien Charles, Mrs. Marthe Cadet, and Mr. Ocnel Bastien; his maternal aunt and uncles Ms. Islande Augustin, Mr. Sony Augustin, and Mr. Tony Augustin; his uncles Dr. Florian Honore (a second father to him) and Mr. Louis Cadet (grandfather-figure); his godfather Mr. Jean-Marie Moise; his godmother Mrs. Carmelite Joseph Moise; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, god siblings, and other loved ones. He will be laid to rest with his mother, Yanick, as it was meant to be.
