Aubrey Jay Kerley, 79, of Carlton died Saturday, May 30, at the VA hospital in Temple.
Graveside services were Tuesday, June 2, at Pecan Cemetery in Erath County with Bro. Bill Schibler officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Rutledge Funeral Home of Hico.
Mr. Kerley was born Oct. 19, 1918, in Comanche County. He had lived for 35 years in Carlton. He was a roughneck in the oil fields and an army veteran of World War II. He was a Baptist. He was married to Lela Ray Allison on Sept. 19, 1952, in Carlsbad, N.M
Survivors include his wife, Lela Ray Kerley of Carlton; three daughters, Lela Couch and Vickie Kerley, both of Carlton, and Letha Hassell of Hasse; two sisters, Geneva Miller of Carlton and Winnie Austin of Dublin; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
