Ressie Edward Dopson, 75, of 1235 Challen Ave., died in a local hospital Wednesday morning following a short illness. He was a native of Sanderson, Fla., and had lived in Jacksonville most of his life. Mr. Dopson was a member of the First United Methodist Church, William B. Barnett Lodge 187 F & AM., and until his retirement four years ago, had be associated with the Accounting Department of Winn-Dixie for 37 years. He was an Army veteran of World War I. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bobbie G. Dopson, Jacksonville; two sisters, Mrs. Plen Davis of Jacksonville and Mrs. Frank Jones, Macclenny; three brothers, Herrod and Lonnie Dopson of Macclenny, and Leon Dopson of Sanderson; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Friday in the First United Methodist Church, with Dr. Richard E. Blanchard, and Dr. P.M. Boyd officiating. Pallbearers will be active: Bradley Redwine, James Cameron, Waverly Fant, William F. Fleming, Carl M. Jones, and William F. Snead, Jr.; honorary, Charles H. Phinizy, Lester Joiner, Walter Wightman, Joe A. Adams, Douglas Milne Sr., Albert Meeks, M.C. Cameron, Walter Allen, Herbert Loznicka, J.C. Gilley and J.R. Groover. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Methodist Church Building Fund. Interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Hardage and Sons Riverside Funeral Home, 517 Park St.
