Praxedis (no surname) was born in Salinan ranchería Etsmal in what is now Monterey County, California, about 1790. She was the [grand]daughter of Salinan neophytes Felipe "Eazcaquée" (SMA Baptism 00071-SMA Death 00595) and Marcela (SMA Baptism 00193-SMA Death 01209). She assumed her Christian name upon her baptism at Mission San Miguel Arcángel on July 23, 1798 (SMA Baptism 00112). She married Chumash neophyte Odilon Joya (no surname) at Mission San Miguel on January 29, 1804 (SMA Marriage 00301). She died at Mission San Miguel about December 25, 1818, and was buried in the mission cemetery the following day (SMA Death 01089).
