Both Fathers of Four - Funeral Rites Set for Crash Victims

Joint funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. at Chapel of Chimes Mortuary for two brothers-in-law who were killed in a one-car accident early Thursday morning southeast of Great Falls.
The two, Russell W. Back, 25, who recently moved to Choteau from Great Falls and Charles L. Palmer, 29, 2810 6th Ave No. died when the car in which they were riding let Montana Highway 227 and rolled across a field for 200 yards.
Montana Highway Patrol officers indicated the sedan was driven by Back. They said it was traveling north toward the junction with U.S. Highway 87 at a high rate of speed when it missed a curve and rolled into the field. Parts of the automobile were strewn ac ross the field.
The two victims and a passenger,Erik Hofland, 25, 2321 13th St S. were thrown from the machine as it rolled. Hofland received head cuts, a fractured collar bone and other injuries. He is in Deaconess Hospital.
Back, born in Great Falls Jan 27, 1944, attended school here and had worked on ranches in the area as his health permitted. Three weeks ago he had gone to work as a laborer in a logging operation near Choteau and the family had moved into a house at Choteau two days ago.
Surviving him are his widow and four children. Other survivors include his mother, 5 sisters and a brother.
