Virginia "Ebie" Lee Mitchell Matula, 88, of Fayetteville, Ark., passed away May 8, 2023. She was born March 17, 1935, in Fayetteville, Ark., to Joseph David Mitchell, Jr., and Mildred Elizabeth Appleby Mitchell.

Ebie attended high school in Stillwell, Okla., attended William Woods Univ. in Fulton, MO., then finished a bachelor's degree in business administration at the Univ. of Ark., where she was a member of the PSI Chapter of Chi Omega sorority. She was office manager of the Ozark Guidance Center until retiring. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Fayetteville, Ark.

Ebie is survived by her children: Mike Fagan (Loni) of Fayetteville, Ark., Virginia "Sissy" Smith (Kevin) of Helena, Ark., and Carolyn Adams (Leslie) of Tampa, FL., grandchildren Bryn Morris (Jeremiah) of Siloam Springs, Ark., Drew Smith of Helena, Ark., Nate Smith of Tulsa, Okla., Anna and Allison Fagan, both of Fayetteville, Ark., and Caroline and Virginia Smith, both of Jonesboro, Ark., and great-grandchildren Jackson, Ella, Reverie, and Maisie Morris, of Siloam Springs, Ark. Also surviving are brothers David Mitchell of Sacramento, Calif., and John Tate Mitchell, of Cane Hill, Ark., and many other beloved relatives.

A funeral service will be Mon., May 15, 2023, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 224 No. East Ave., Fayetteville, Ark., officiated by Rev. Evan Garner. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, 595 W. 15th St., Fayetteville, Ark.
