Jean Marie Mourning, 72, of Altamont, Kansas, died at 10:52 a.m., Monday, March 17, 2008, at Elmhaven East Nursing Home in Parsons, Kansas, where she had resided the past 2 1/2 years.
She was born December 25, 1935, in rural Altamont, Kansas, to Nathan E. and Charlotte L. (Allison) Robinson.
She grew up in rural Labette County graduating from Labette County Community High School in 1954.
She and Donald Gene "Don" Mourning were married January 30, 1972, at the Westside Christian Church in Parsons, Kansas. He survives of the home.
She worked for four years at the Agriculture Soil Conservation Service in Altamont. In 1959, she began working for the Commercial Bank in Parsons and retired from there in June of 2000 as assistant cashier after 41 years of service.
She enjoyed reading, traveling and square dancing. In earlier years, she taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Oswego.
Other survivors include one brother, Gary Robinson and wife, Nancy, of Independence, MO; two Nieces, Cassie Swindler and Callie Justesen; two great-nephews, Collin Swindler and Reid Justesen; one great-niece, Mara Justesen; and numerous other family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a great-nephew, Carson Swindler.
Funeral services are scheduled for March 20, 2008, at the First Baptist Church in Oswego, Kansas. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Altamont, Kansas.
Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church in Oswego or Elmhaven East Nursing Home.
