She married William 'Richard' Pennell of Northfleet, Kent, on 15th March 1857 at St. Mary Magdalene Church, Woolwich, Kent. They had nine children, sadly two died in infancy.
They emigrated to Canada departing London on 11th May sailing on the s.s. Niger together with her sister Eliza Crew and husband James Hone with their children, both families arriving in Quebec City, Montreal on 29th May 1871.
Rachel was buried in St Margaret's Churchyard in Rutherglen together with Richard who died just seven months after her.
