Ann-Charlotte Crew was born in Bromley-by-Bow in East London to William Henry Crew and Susan (nee Sheppard/Shepherd) the last-born child in a large family, her five surviving siblings all emigrated to Australia and Canada.
She married Joseph Sweetlove in 1871 in West Greenwich and, they had eight children.
Joseph was the youngest child of George and Sophia (nee Dryden) Sweetlove, Joseph followed family tradition becoming a 'Freeman' Waterman & Lighterman working on the River Thames, after 1901 they moved from Greenwich to South Hornchurch in Essex.
Joseph then worked in partnership with his older brother Charles Simmonds Sweetlove running Barges, and was known as 'The Captain of Rainham Creek'.
Ann-Charlotte & Joseph were my maternal Great Grandparents.
I replaced this headstone myself after lengthy negotiations with the Churchyard authorities as the original had been damaged and removed.
