Injury fatal to Pioneer of Powell
Head injuries recieved when he jumped off a truck near his home at Powell Sunday evening caused the death Monday of Joel Alexander Nabors, pioneer of Marshall County. Mr. Nabors had been riding on the truck running board and jumped off as he approached his home. Exactly how he was injured is not known. He was bought to Madill hospital early Monday morning and died there that afternoon. Coming to Marshall County in 1889. Mr. Nabors settled at Powell. He had been a member of the Church of Christ since 1920.
M.U. Ayers was in charge of services Thursday afternoon at the Powell school. Internment was at Powell cemetery with Watts Funeral Home in charge.
Surviving are 5 sons; Grady, Odie and J.C. all of Madill; A.B. Nabors of Powell; George of Superior, Ariz., and one daughter, Mrs. Lula Yow of Powell; three sisters, Mrs. J.P. Neasbitt and Mrs. W.R. Green of Saddler, Texas. Mrs. Genoah Rush, Russett; Five brothers; A.G. Nabors, Whitesboro, Tx; John of Mangum; Bob of Addington, Okla; Clifford of California and Otto of Gordonville,Tex.
