John and Anna were blessed with five children: Minna, Walter, Ervin, Albert and Hazel. They were all born on a farm in Kearney County, Nebraska. Walter Hagemann was born May 6, 1913 and became a farmer. Minna was born on February 21, 1911. She lived with her parents on the farm, attending high school in Holstein, graduating in 1930. She later worked as a telephone operator in Holstein and Blue Hill. She moved to Blue Hill in 1942 with her mother and sister and worked for Dr. McNeil as a secretary for 27 years. After retirement, she returned back to the Hagemann farm.

Hazel was born February 1, 1924. She went to county school and then to Campbell High School, graduating in May 1941. She then went to business school and later got a job as a secretary at the Harvard Air Base. She later was transferred to an air base in Alaska, where she met Ray E. Ware of Springfield, Mo., who was stationed there. They were married on May 4, 1947. They were blessed with three children. Hazel's husband Ray, passed away October 29, 1967.
