On 30 Jan 1781 Phillip was enrolled as a member of the sixth class of Cumberland, but there is no record that he saw service during the Revolutionary War.

Also in 1781, Phillip was instrumental in the construction of "Arendt's church" which was used by both the Lutheran and Reformed Churches. It was a two story, log and weather-boarded structure with a barrel shaped pulpit and a railed-in altar and was located in Arendtsville, about five miles northwest of Cumberland Township.

In 1783, Philip was taxed in Cumberland for 300 acres of land, one house, one outhouse, one horned cow, two horses, and two sheep.

Philip died about 1815 in Franklin County, VA.
