CHARLES W. BITTINGER — GARRETT COUNTY — Charles William Bittinger, 77, of Garrett County, Md., died Wednesday, January 22, 1947, in Salisbury, Pa., at the home of a son.

Born on October 12, 1869, in Garrett County, Md., he was a son of the late Jacob and Ellen (Fazenbaker) Bittinger. In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Hoover) Bittinger, in 1925, and two sisters, Nancy Wilt and Sarah Wilt.

Mr. Bittinger was a member of the Maple Grove Church of the Brethren.

Surviving are three daughters, Minerva Beakley and Lanna Beeman, both of Somerset, and Lena Beeman, of here; seven sons, Lawrence Bittinger, Daniel Bittinger and Frank Bittinger, all of Salisbury; Jesse Bittinger, of Grantsville; Floyd Bittinger and Ervin Bittinger, of Jennings, and George Bittinger, of Somerset; 55 grandchildren; seven brothers, Jacob Bittinger, Harrison Bittinger, Earnest Bittinger, Archie Bittinger, Norman Bittinger, Jacob Bittinger, Clearance Bittinger and Ervin Bittinger, all addresses unknown, and three sisters, Laverna Wilt, Oprah Bittinger and Hazel Bittinger, all addresses unknown.

Funeral services were conducted at the Maple Grove Church of the Brethren on Thursday, January 24th at 10:00 a. m.

Interment in the Newton Bittinger Cemetery near Jennings in charge of Mortician Stanley M. Thomas of Salisbury.
