Maynard Max Brown of St Clair, Mo, was born on June 1, 1921 at Humstead,IA, son of the late George Brown and Clara Brown nee Gibbs. On March 31, 1950 he was united in marriage to Alice Mae Day and three children came to bless this union. Maynard departed this life on Nov 6, 1991, having reached the age of seventy years, five months and five days.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Brown of St Clair; two sons, Ronnie D Day and wife Beverly and Dennis R Brown and wife Chris, all of St Louis; one daughter, Susie Stephenson and husband Tim of St Clair; his mother-in-law, Arvilla Day of Koshkonong, MO; one brother; two sisters,; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews,cousin, other relatives and many friends.
Maynard was a Christian and had attended the St Clair Pentecostal Church of God. He had been employed by and retired from General Motors and was also a member of the United Auto Workers Union. He was proud to serve his country in the United States Army during World War II and was awarded five bronze stars during his enlistment. Attending and doing work for his church was very important to Maynard, as was spending time with his family. Each of his grandchildren was very special to him. Since his retirement, Maynard had enjoyed gardening and woodworking.A kind and loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle,cousin, and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
Funeral services were held Nov 9, 1991 at Russell Colonial Chapel in St Clair, with Rev Eugene Hudson officiating. Interment was in Crestview Memorial Park near St Clair,Mo, with full military Honors.
