Kemlyn Eugene Nash, 85, a resident of Independence, MO passed away peacefully Sunday, April 16, 2023 at his home. He was born October 1, 1937 to Herman Arthur and Iva Mae (Baker) Nash in Macon, MO.

Kemlyn was a 1955 graduate of Macon High School in Macon, MO. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force where he was an aircraft mechanic. Kemlyn spent one year in Korea during his service time. Kemlyn also received airman of the month award. Kemlyn was united in marriage to Mary Margaret Leist on April 22, 1958 in Valdosta, GA. They would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on April 22, 2023. Kemlyn started his career as a blacksmith welder for Kansas City Power and Light. He later was superintendent over steam team and eventually retired as superintendent of line clearance for the Kansas City Power and Light. Kemlyn enjoyed fishing and hunting. He cherished spending time with his family and friends.

Survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary Margaret Nash of Independence; sons, Stacey Kent Nash and his wife Jane of Independence, Shawn Patrick Nash of Fraizer Park, CA; grandchildren, Jessica Louise Wood, Stephanie Renee Kennedy, Kelsey Marie Nash; great-grandchildren, Dakota Marie Dey, Jacob Edwin Wood, John Kemlyn Wood, Joseph Matthew Wood, Adalyn Elise Hall, Allie Louise Kennedy, Aubrey Marie Kennedy. Kemlyn is preceded in death by his son, Steven Eugene Nash; parents, Herman and Iva Nash; siblings, Genevieve, Evangeline, Alma, Darlene, Keith, Gail, and Sue.

His family will receive friends and family from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 21, 2023 at Meyers Funeral Chapel, 1600 W. Main St, Blue Springs, MO.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2023 at the Hutton and McElwain Funeral Home in Macon, MO. Burial with military honors will follow at the German Lutheran Cemetery (Sandner Cemetery) in rural Macon County. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meyers Funeral Chapel in Blue Springs.
