He went to work for the United States Department of Agriculture, Food Safety and Inspection in Kansas City and then Trenton in 1962 and retired after 27 years.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bethel, Kansas where he was an ordained deacon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Nellie Rachel Johnson and four brothers, Floyd, Russell, Robert and John Gail.
Funeral services were held at the Resthaven Mortuary.
Burial was in Resthaven Memorial Gardens
Surviving relatives are his wife, Mildred of the home; one son, Jerald; two daughters, Judy and Jean; four sisters, Cecile Swanson, Fern Voss, Helen Theander and Marie Stahl; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
