THAYER - Albert T. "Swede" Gall Jr., 83, of Thayer died at 3:20 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2008, at his home.

He was born Dec. 9, 1924, in Virden, the son of Albert T. and Hannah M. Evans Gall Sr. A brother, William Call, preceded him in death.

Mr. Gall served in the U.S. Navy as a first class seaman during World War II. He was with the first assault at Normandy on Omaha Beach. He worked as an electrician for Pillsbury Mills for 39 years and retired in 1985. He was a member of Oak Leaf Country Club in Girard, Pillsbury 25-Year Club, Auburn VFW Post 8157 and Virden American Legion Post 386.

Surviving are six children, James Lee Gall (Audrey) of Tucson, Ariz., Thomas Albert Gall of Greenfield, Wayne Allen Gall of Thayer, Brian Lee Gall (Tiffany) of Virden, Lisa Diane Brewer (Chris) of Winfield, Mo., and Dawn Michele Sanson (Philip) of Thayer; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three siblings, Bernard Gall (Marylynn) of Pawnee, Evelyn Smith (Harold) of Pawnee and Dolores Allen of Pawnee; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2008, at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2008, at First Christian Church in Girard. Burial with military rites will be in Virden Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Oak Leaf Country Club.
