Evelyn M. Smith, 89, of Springfield, IL formerly of Virden, IL passed away at 1:00 A.M. Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Heritage Health Care in Springfield, IL.
Evelyn was born in Virden, IL on May 30, 1928 a daughter to Albert T. & Hannah (Evans) Gall. She married Harold L. Smith on January 19, 1947 in Virden, IL
There wasn’t many things that Evelyn didn’t like to do. She loved to work in her garden, listen to music and go dancing, go fishing, travel for a vacation and enjoyed cooking big meals for her family. Evelyn formerly worked for Sangamo Electric in Springfield, IL.
Surviving Evelyn is her husband, Harold L. Smith of Springfield, IL; grandchildren, Aaron C. (Mercedes) Smith of Springfield, IL, Aimee L. Smith of Phoenix, AZ, Alyson L. (Joshua) Nickerson of Springfield, IL and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her parents; son, Richard L. Smith; Brothers, Albert Gall Jr, William Gall, Bernard Gall and sister, Delores Allen.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. Monday, February 26, 2018 at the Calvert & FerryFuneral Home in Virden, IL. The funeral service will start immediately following the visitation at 3:00 P.M with Aaron C. Smith officiating. Pallbearers: Scott Allen, Bill Allen, Tom Gall, Dane Vincent, Richard Palmer and Aaron Smith. Interment will be in the Virden Cemetery, Virden, IL.
