Crynes was born to Guiliaem (1721/2- 1784) and his cousin Rachel Bartholf (1724-1763) in Bergen County, New Jersey. He married Margrietje Alyea (1757-1794) the daughter of Isaac Alyea (1732-1805) and Annatje Demarest (1740-after 1805). They had several children one of whom was Annatje Bartholf born Feb 2, 1777 who married Samuel Gates.
On July 1776 there were 10 Bartholf men as signers of a pledge in Goshen, Hamptonburgh, and Chester in Orange County, New York. (See attached list). One of them Crines Bartholf, Jr . Further along on the list are Orinns and James Bartholf.
The family ancestors from Crines follows
Parents -Guiliaem and Rachel Bartholf (his second marriage) were cousins
1. Samuel born April 27, 1745 and married Hannah Hopper
2. Hendrick
3. Annatje
4. Crinnes (Crinnes has not yet been found in baptismal records although the churches were in great turmoil at this time and records were not always accurate with many mistakes and at times the Domines recorded as little as possible and as they traveled between churches it was easy to misplace or forget baptisms. At one point the parents were to pay the voorleiser 6 pence to record the baptism. One can imagine at times the 6 pence might be hard to come by. Lack of a baptismal record should not preclude his birth to Guiliaem and Rachel Bartholf.
