Oaka Maxine Baese, age 87, passed away at her home on June 13, 2002 in Vernal. She was born April 8, 1915 in Bluebell, to Mac McKinnley and Clace Sabey Bradley. Oaka married Elbert S. "Tommy" Baese on Feb. 5, 1936 in Heber City.
Oaka was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She and her husband Tommy owned and operated The Lazy K Motel in Vernal for 42 years, She also worked for the Cleaners, and the U.S. Postal Service. Oaka was a friend to everyone and loved to visit with people, She was known as "Aunt O."
She is survived by her husband, Elbert "Tommy;" son, Karl (LaRae) Baese of Vernal; grandson, Scott Baese of Vernal; granddaughters, Teri Rae (Ryan) Jensen of Monument, Colo.; Brooke (Aaron) Jolley of Vernal; great-granddaughter, Randi (Allen) Welch of Denver, Colo.; great-grandson, Stuart Jensen; great-granddaughter; Rachel; great-granddaughter, Lindsy Jolley; great-grandsons, Donovan and Braden Jolley; great-great-grandson, Porter Welch; special friends, Donna (Kenny) Price family and Lyle (Katheryn) McCarrel family.
